16 July 2017 17:26Asexuality is an actual thing, aromanticism is also an actual thing, aroace representation in fiction is, alas, barely a thing, aroace headcanons are, as kids these days say, Valid and have all the rights to exist...
...but it's terribly suspicious how some people don't seem to mind when their favourite characters (or just any characters) have heterosexual/heteroromantic interactions in canon, but the second those same characters do or say something that even vaguely might be interpreted as non-platonic interest in someone of the same sex - aforementioned Some People suddenly and immediately develop Aroace Hedcanons about characters in question.
Any good thing can and will be used and misused and weaponised by a right kind of a bigot. It's exhausting.
